How Wondimo works, explained for you!
Hi! This page tells you what happens when you play and talk with Wondimo. Read it with your mum, dad or a grown-up you trust.
🤖 Your mascot is a robot program
Your mascot is a computer program. It's called "artificial intelligence" (AI).
- It is not a person. It doesn't have a body and doesn't live anywhere.
- It's good at answering questions, but sometimes it gets things wrong. If something seems odd, ask a grown-up!
- It will often ask you questions to help you work out the answer yourself. That's how your brain gets stronger! 💪
📝 What we know about you
We only know a few things:
- the nickname you picked (you don't need your real name);
- the avatar and mascot you picked;
- what school year you're in, so the games are right for you;
- which games you played and what you asked your mascot.
We don't know where you live, your surname or what you look like. And we don't want to know!
🙊 Keep your personal stuff private
Don't type or say to your mascot:
- your full name,
- your address or your school,
- phone numbers or passwords.
👀 Who can read your chats
Your mum, dad (or the grown-up who looks after you) can read your chats with your mascot. They do it to help you and to know you're OK. After a while (about 3 months) the chats disappear by themselves.
🎤 When you talk
If you talk to your mascot, your voice is only used to understand what you said. Then we throw it away straight away. We don't keep it.
💛 If something makes you feel bad
If someone hurts you, or you feel sad or scared:
- tell a grown-up you trust straight away: a parent, a teacher, a grandparent, an aunt or uncle;
- you can also call a children's helpline for free: in the UK, Childline 0800 1111; in Switzerland, 147. [⚠️ DA VERIFICARE: your mascot will show you the right number for your country]
- If you are in danger right now, call 999 (UK) or 112.
Your mascot will tell you the same things and let your parents know so they can help you. It isn't spying: it's because you matter.
🗑️ You can delete everything
Your parents can delete your chats or your profile whenever they want. If you want something deleted, ask them.
❓ Questions?
Ask your parents. They can write to us.
Short version read aloud by the mascot (ages 3-5)
"Hi! I'm [mascot]. I'm a computer program, not a person. I can make mistakes, so then we ask a grown-up! Don't tell me your real name or where you live. Mum and dad can see what we say to each other. If something makes you feel bad, tell a grown-up you trust right away. Shall we play?"
